Personal Experience I have had the great opportunity to be apart of a great plan and class at college. Most of us who are going to become teachers know about this class and the required 80 hours of volunteering at a meat school for a semester. I was eager to volunteer, because I have experience in working with middle school kids. The school I work for, has prepared me to handle school aged kids, so I was relying on my background to carry me though the semester at a new Middle school. The privileges of a mystical school are a parcel different from an inner city school. When I began to volunteer at Baker I was shocked to discover that the students were not allowed to take books home to finish their school work. When it came time to read a book the teacher would distribute the books to the students, but then recollect them afterwards. At capital of Colorado Academy, the teachers purchase and distribute the books to the class and the students get to kee p the books forever. I was about to find out how hard it is for these students to be motivated to attend school ordinary when these kids are lacking a stable environment. I was leaving my comfort zone to enter an entirely different type of school environment. The first sidereal day of my volunteering at Baker middle school was filled with apprehension, because I was entering an entirely new situation and leaving the safety of Denver Academy behind. As I walked into the classroom, it was as if there were a hundred eyes staring in my direction. As quickly as the stares came, they went away as if I was not even there anymore. I could only imagine what kind of thoughts and questions were going through their heads. Im sure the first question would be why... ... lot they can learn from the students a Baker, because even though some of the students dont care about education. There are some students who do, and they are accustomed the tools they need to make it through. The students at Baker are just happy to have someone show an interest in what they are doing. I truism it in their eyes when I gave them praise on something they did during the time I was there. That praise can carry a student along way which to me is reward in it self. I can only hope that the time I spent with these students can encourage at least a few to celebrate on the academic path and make a name for them selves later in life. These kids deserve every opportunity we can pass by them and I am proud to be a piece of the big picture. We can only guess how hard it is for these students, so lets make sure we give them a safe and helping hand along the way.

This personal philosophy also draws, to a certain extent, on reflective learning from the authors own experience within the early years teaching environment.As a result, and in the opinion of the author, it was found that the educational theories that support the notion of entirely free play are not as effective as the current educational agenda. However, whilst there are merits in the notion of entirely free experiences for very young children, as advocate d by Montessori, it is suggested here that there needs to be a degree of structure, as this is more reflective of the educational experience which the children are likely to receive in the future. Moreover, there is an underlying aim within early years education to present children with the best possible foundation before branching into compulsory education and this would seem to be the main focus.The author also believes that the most appropriate philosophy is a combination of Waldorf and High Scope, stating that there needs to be at to the lowest degree some degree of structure and expectation, in order to ensure that there is sufficient consistency. Each child leaving early years education needs to be in position to undertake compulsory education therefore, without having at least some boundaries and expectations laid out for all involved in education, this would result in some children not being able to achieve basic standards. Im not the kind of person that looks at the color of someones skin b efore I get to know them and because of that I am one of many who tries to accept everyone for who they are.The two groups that I have chosen are somewhat similar when it concerns what they have gone through in history to get to where they are now because ofthe narrow minded people out there. They are extremely different in just about every way there is but there are some African descent who are Jehovahs Witnesses and they have to struggle double as hard to be accepted for who they are.
