Eddie Carbones Tragic Hero Qualities Essays

Eddie Carbones Tragic Hero Qualities Essays Eddie Carbones Tragic Hero Qualities Paper Eddie Carbones Tragic Hero Qualities Paper Eddie Carbone is one of the main characters in Arthur Millers A View From A Bridge. Within the production Eddie is seen as from a warm loving man into an over-protective uncle, jealous over his Nieces own love for an immigrant known as Rodolfo, thus turning into a love triangle and leading to the death of himself. Was this his own fault or was it due to the actions of someone else?  Eddie Carbones Tragic Hero Qualities:  Within the play A View From The Bridge Eddie Carbone after being killed can be related as being a tragic hero. At the beginning this can be seen in the way he cares for his niece as if she was his own love, when trying to prevent her from taking a job with a big plumbing company he uses quotes such as What job? Shes gonna finish school and I want you to be in a nice office. Maybe a lawyers as relating to Alfieri, the plays own lawyer. This to begin with can be one of the reasons to it being down to Eddie himself who caused his downfall, as when Rodolfo comes into the limelight he again over protects and in a way gets jealous when the two fall in love. Eddie immediately presumes that Rodolfo, who in fact is one of many illegal immigrants from Sicily, is only getting together with Catherine so he can get married and become a true citizen. In doing so this rages Eddie and without thinking calls upon the immigration office to take the family, who is spending there stay at his own home, away. Because of this Marco, one of the other immigrants, gets into a scuffle with Eddie resulting in Marco turning Eddies own knife upon him and killing him. This could be one of the first reasons relating Eddie to a tragic hero as he died for what he believed in. Before all of this Beatrice his wife explains to him what he had done and what could happen to the Sicilians, heroically Eddie tries to throw the lead off the immigrants and although failing to turn the tide back, this is seen as one of the more nice things he did. Eddies relationship and attitude to Rodolfo:  Throughout the play Eddie and Rodolfo dont seem to get on with one another despite a bright entry when it seems to the audience that Eddie is protecting the immigrants from his wife Beatrice, who is annoyed at the fact that they came early, leaving no time to prepare and be the good host. Despite this start, as soon as Rodolfo and Cathy get together tension seems to grip the air and the feud finally starts. Along with insults over his girlish camp looks Eddie also picks upon Rodolfos Paper Doll singing and what seems to be complete opposite male behaviour, as Eddie quotes Hes like a chorus girl or sumpm. As he begins to become more and more protective, Eddie trys to teach Rodolfo a thing or two about boxing trying to show to Cathy that hes not a stud unlike himself, leaving the question open to the audience, Does Eddie have a secret love for his own niece? After seeming to try to show off to Catherine. As the play goes on Eddie become more and more agitated resulting in the immigration offices coming, due to the fault of Eddie being to over-protective or in love with Catherine. This seems to be his own fatal flaw, and shows how really domineering Eddie is, not only bossing Beatrice around but also Cathy and her love.  Eddies relationship with Catherine:  A very stereotypical man he is, Eddie because of judging Rodolfo on his ways of life is hated by Catherine. There attitude towards one another can be seen at the start as Eddie refuses to agree with the fact that she has nearly agreed to a job as a secretary which Eddie sees as unfit for a women and below her standards.

Twilight of the idols by Friedrich Nietzsche Essay - 1

Twilight of the idols by Friedrich Nietzsche - Essay Example In the critique of this view, I have given a counter argument to demonstrate that Nietzsche is indeed wrong in his ethical worldview. Nietzsche’s critique of Traditional Christian morality can be summarized as follows. According to Nietzsche, the defining characteristic of human being is the will to life, or will to power as he variously called it. For this reason, Nietzsche argued that the main drive in human actions is the will to power or the will to life. Nietzsche saw human actions as flowing from the desire of human beings to live. To support this view, Nietzsche contended that while it is possible for human beings to forgo any other treasures of life, it is not actually possible to forgo the desire to live. Nietzsche therefore concluded that the will to power is the main driving force in human actions. The second element of Nietzsche’s view of ethics and critique of traditional Christian morality is the view that the true human ethics must be life affirming. By affirming life here Nietzsche meant that true human morality must be compatible with the human beings’ will to power. For this reason, therefore, Nietzsche contended that true ethics must be unrestrictive; restrictions hinder human beings from pursuing life itself, i.e. the will to life. For Nietzsche, therefore, nothing should be forbidden in life as long as furthers human beings will to power. Nietzsche argued that this kind of ethics will enable human beings to become superman (Ubermensch). For this reason, therefore, Nietzsche saw traditional Christian morality as anti-natural because it tries to exterminate natural passions. In other words, Nietzsche saw the traditional Christian morality as being against the nature of human beings because it discourages being led by our passions in making moral decisions ; Nietzsche saw Christian morality as a fiction (Nietzsche).

Data Collection Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Data Collection - Assignment Example In universities, however, some of the sources of pay hike for faculty members such as tuition fee that owe its management to external units that make it inaccessible. Nevertheless, worker unions are useful forums for airing the grievances of the laborers and campaign for wage increases. Unions are also highly influential because their members reserve the right to strike in case their demands are unmet. As a consequence, being in a union raises the nominal wage of its member. Wage is dependent on education and the demand for skills. There is the existence of perceptions that unions have the capacity to condense wage differentials if the union is influential enough. Blau and Kahn (2006) argue that, the labor unions in America have been effective in bargaining for their members’ salaries and allowances, making them higher than the nonunion members. An experimental research shows that those employees who have joined labor unions receive higher compensations relative to non union workers. There is, therefore, diminishing of unions in United Kingdom and United States. This explains the decreasing remunerations for the employees. Testing of such a hypothesis in US construction industry has, however, invalidated the thought (Blau and Kahn, 2006). Another study by Michigan panel study of income dynamics on the existence of the gender pay gap has produced similar results. Results from the research show that, the gap has been converging over the last few decades. The discrepancies in the pay gap can be eliminated by; upgrading of professional knowledge and de-unionization of employees. The widening of the wage gap can be explained by transformations in the labor market mode of selecting employees. Demand shift alterations and labor market biases contribute significantly to the wage gap (Blau and Kahn, 2006). Blau and Kahn (2006) have declared that, the probability of a woman and a man being union

Access Control System Project Plan

Access Control System Project Plan Brian Jerozal   Project Scope Statement The project of installing an access control system in a dormitory is requirement which is coming from the Board of directors of college. Scope of the project is to develop a system which ensure the authorized access in to the dormitory and record all the activities which are taking place at the door of dormitory in order to identify the potential threat who is trying to get the unauthorized access in to the dormitory. For getting entry, user authentication will be requiring which will take place when register person will use his/her issued identification card against the electronic proximity reader. This project is big step form collage to ensure the security at the campus. Project goals is to implementing an access control system (ACS) in a dormitory by integrating an electronic proximity reader, application which will handle this device and will do verification of user form created database and the existing security camera who will monitor all the activities and will record them in order to ensure the secure access to the dormitory. Deliverable of this project will be the video footage of dormitory access activity and overall working system. The student or appropriate personnel will have three opportunities to open the entryway if the client neglects to open the entryway on the third endeavor then the alert will go off. The ACS will likewise be intended to permit the security chairman to make changed for the ACS operations. These progressions will be the camera positions setting the caution time and setting the time the quarters entryways will bolt. The gadget utilizes a reception apparatus curl to control the RFID tag implanted in the understudy ID c ard which peruses the actuate reaction from the card. The reaction is then separated and controlled into helpful information and deciphered by the security program. This procedure cautions the manager PC by means of serial line and hyper term. In the event that the card is perused and it is not in the code database a red LED flashes for three seconds. A dedicated team of 5 resources will be assigned for this project. Overall project cost including the hardware devices is $15,000. Total duration of project is 3 weeks. The Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson Essay -- Mrs. Ma

The Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson In â€Å"A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson,† Mary Rowlandson, a Puritan mother from Lancaster, Massachusetts, recounts the invasion of her town by Indians in 1676 during â€Å"King Philip’s War,† when the Indians attempted to regain their tribal lands. She describes the period of time where she is held under captivity by the Indians, and the dire circumstances under which she lives. During these terrible weeks, Mary Rowlandson deals with the death of her youngest child, the absence of her Christian family and friends, the terrible conditions that she must survive, and her struggle to maintain her faith in God. She also learns how to cope with the Indians amongst whom she lives, which causes her attitude towards them to undergo several changes. At first, she is utterly appalled by their lifestyle and actions, but as time passes she grows dependent upon them, and by the end of her captivity, she almost admires their abil ity to survive the harshest times with a very minimal amount of possessions and resources. Despite her growing awe of the Indian lifestyle, her attitude towards them always maintains a view that they are the â€Å"enemy.† In the beginning of the narrative, Mary Rowlandson describes the manner in which the Indians invade her home, kill many of her friends, and drag her away from her husband and two children. She watches as the â€Å"murderous Wretches [burn] and [destroy]† her home before her eyes. It is the â€Å"dolefullest day that [her] eyes have ever [seen].† At this point in time, Mary has no knowledge of the Indian lifestyle, or even of their motive for ravaging the land of the colonists. She sees them merely as merciless heathens who come from Satan. Mary writes that before the incident, she said that if â€Å"the Indians should come, [she] should choose rather to be killed by them then [be] taken alive,†(124) but when that choice actually comes to her, she chooses to go with them, despite her unwillingness. At this point, she puts her life into the Indians’ hands. Once they leave the town, Mary and the Indians begin a series of â€Å"removes,† or moves to di fferent areas of the New England wilderness. Mary describes the celebration rituals of the Indians, where they dance and chant, and â€Å"[make] the place a lively resemblance of hell!† Their unchristian lifestyle... ...en she goes home to her family and friends, her attitude toward Indians in general changes greatly. At first, living with Indians is the most appalling thought that she could ever have. Over time, she realizes that she must somewhat befriend them in order to survive adequately. In the end, she even appreciates the Indians, and the experiences she has had with them. Her captivity also brings her closer to God, because during every hardship, she turns to her faith to help her through it. Her time with the Indians also gave her the affliction that she had always hoped for. Mary lived in prosperity before, and had too many comforts of the world around her. The journeys with the Indians give her a kind of reality check, because she sees that not everyone lives in prosperity as she did. The biggest lesson that she learns is to â€Å"look beyond present and smaller troubles, and be quieted under them, as Moses said, Exodus.xiv.13, Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.† Work Cited Rowlandson, Mary. Bp Ethical Culture to the Gulf Coast

Question 1) Introduction BP is one of world’s largest energy company, they must have enough capital, technical and experience a responsibility to keep theirrefinery safe and run smooth in their working area. But some problem appeared from BP inside to cause this crude oil spill disaster. Save cost for to overlooked safe for the system;Assigned Transocean to drill oil; and continue to drill oil when technician looked out rig’s blowout preventer was leaking are main reason in this disaster.Everyone totally not accept this overlooked in one history and technical energy company. Save Cost Nowadays save cost from an existing business is logic and comment. We understand and accept save cost to keep competition in the market but first concern is keep high quality production after save cost. If not it will cause many problems from this action. This is a simple logic for business beginner. So lots of people don’t know why a huge and history company forgot this main point. Oil drilling is one of dangerous and careful job in this world. Each step must need circumspect and 100% safe before action. So risk management most important for that, but BP cut corners like to save money. For example, no remote control to urgent shut-off switch install on the rig. This one is last insurance for the protection but they can miss it for save cost. Also, on simple procedures, they cut out some step and quality test for the pipe. Each industrialist must understand final quality check is one of main step in the production. This step if missed may cause the company loss a large amount and product confidence.Especially, public confidence is important for each product or service. They need spend too much capital and time to build up. Unfortunately, BP looks like forget this main point. They miss some step and quality test intentionally. The test is for the pipe mainly to detect the gas in the well. I know these actions can save some cost for their production. But they are loss a huge amount and crude oil, confident of public and 11 technical staff. Contractor investigation Based on there is no risk management and they contracting out oil drill to Transocean. In records that almost four incidents were owned by Transocean almost three years. They can make an investigation before contract if they have risk management. No Risk sense One technical staff whois worked on Deepwater Horizon oil rig and points out BP negligence. He report to BP that the rig’s blowout preventer leaked before explosion but BP still no action for stop production. BP’s management are not only no risk management for save cost, and then they only knowledge how to earn more money to negligence safety. Conclusion BP is a history and largest energy in the world.Money may cover their ethical knowledge. They destroyed a one heaven location for travel, fishing industry in Gulf Coast, tourism, 11 staff’s life, their thousands of gallons crude oil and main point is lost reputation and trust from public. Question 2) Introduction Lots of victims are in this unfortunate accident, environment of Gulf coast, tourism, fishing industry, 11 technical staff etc. But not included BP in this case. They are murderer totally in this oil spill disaster based on their company failed in the management of potential risk.Refer to question 1,their management should be stop production before explosion when their staff appear the rig’s blowout preventer leaked. If they can stop the production immediately, history should be no this disaster and BP continue to work smooth in the market. Management of potential risk is important for them, but they completely to ignore it. In this case, one of true victim is their staffs who are killed by this explosion. Before employ this job, all staff must understood how dangerous for their job. They put down their worry and accept this dangerous job ecause they believe a largest company had a completely system to protect their life and promise their parent safety back home every day. They are happy to get a stable meaningful job and they are working in one largest company. Also, lots of human can enjoy energy for their live, useful plastic accessories because they painstaking to delve crude oil. However their largest company betrays their truth and got their life base on oversight. Unfortunately, eleven employees can’t back home on time because they killed by this disaster. ConclusionGulf Coast oil spill disaster no more excuse to shirk responsibility from BP. If they can increase safety sense and risk management, they no need to pay 80% penalty money for Gulf Coast restoration. Based on save cost and earn more profit to miss safety and quality control system is impolitic absolutely. Finally, senators introduce legislation to dedicate at least 80% of BP penalty money for Gulf Coast restoration on 21 July 2011. (Source by http://landrieu. senate. gov/mediacenter/pressreleases/07-21-2011-1. cfm) Ques tion 3) IntroductionBP is one of world’s large energy companies even the disaster happened. A company can ups and downs over hundred years, it must go through lots of incident. Mr. William D’Arcy (a British Petroleum and the Anglo-Persian Oil Company founder) used over six years of drilling in Middle East with his experts and scientists against his finances and patience were coming down. Finally, they had approached around 1200 feet when the source of oil shot out. Go through a few years to drill oil with painful, dissatisfy and nearly give up, a BP was born against these unfavorable factors.Mr. D’Arcy became rich because his company opened a trade on the stock market and their first location to set up a refinery is in Iran. Everything look like smooth going, however BP was go bankrupt nearly on 1914. In 1914, they loss a heating and kerosene lamp markets base on their oil came from Persian was a strong smell. And Automobile was not a primary market product. How ever, the company had a lot of stock in oil. But the market demand can’t fulfill. Since the first crisis passed, they met a second crisis during a coup in Libya and led by Muammar al-Gaddafi.He nationalized BP’s share of oil operation in Libya. And this action to make other oil rich countries in Middle East, like Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Iran etc.. tonationalize. They made BP drop down from 140 million to 500,000 barrels in oil production in Middle East between 1975 and 1983. Above two crisis are very seriously, they cause BP’s lost a huge amount in their business, capital and source. But they can’t compare the explosion in Gulf Coast region on April 2010. This unfortunate event is not only loss money, capital, source and technical staff. Their reputation destroyed in a short period. The whole process is like a nightmare for their public relation. Because rebuild a over hundred years history company is very difficult and need a long time and no any mistake appear again during this period. I understand their public relation is professional and technical. They must still hard to rebuild their reputation. But some idea suggests them to do in the future. 1) Fully support victim in fishing industry Before the explosion, one of main business in Gulf Coast is fishing industry. However, their marine products already got crude oil pollution.BP had a big representation to help all fishermen rebuild fishing industry and subsidies their cost of living. 2) Invite senators, experts, scientist to visit their refinery and Gulf Coast Base on their oversight to cause explosion and oil spill. They must always invite some good reputation experts, scientist, senators and media to visit their other refinery. Media can make more people understand BP how to drill the crude oil and each step is careful to handle and guarantee to public the disaster never happen again. Experts and scientist for double insurance to their machines and procedures is regular and correct.About some senators visit Gulf Coast, they must cause public to follow with interest. And they can show to public BP how to help Gulf Coast restoration. Like President Obama visited Gulf Coast after the disaster happened forth month. (Information source by http://obamafoodorama. blogspot. com/2010/08/as-gulf-coast-visit-ends-obamas-enjoy. html) They can help to Gulf Coast better to rebuild the tourism. 3) Solve Environment Effect After explosion rocked the rig and made them fire and sank. Thousands of gallons of crude oil were spilling to into the sea.The environment around Gulf of Mexico becomes environmental catastrophe. The spilled oil must make the sea on the sea. It hurts lots of marine life and fish. According patch up this disaster, BP and US government use lots of different method to control and clean up the spilled oil. However, they also used chemistry materials to control them. Some expert points out thatthetechnical limitationsand historical experienceshow that t heclean-upworkmay not be abletorestoretheoriginal environmentofthe Gulf of Mexico, butthiseventisto provideatesting groundfor exploringthefutureof oilpurificationmethod. Information source by http://www. futenworld. com/_d270860491. htm) Base on no one want to meet again offshore oil disaster, their risks associated with offshore drilling activities must handle better than before. They must set a rule and guideline to each class of management how to handle if meets the rig in something wrong. And monthly report to local government to report each step is follow the guideline and 100% safe for oil drilling.

Criminal Justice Trends Outline Example

Criminal Justice Trends Outline Example Criminal Justice Trends Outline – Coursework Example Trends in Criminal Justice This paper will evaluate trends in criminal justice, and its connection with the society. I will particularly evaluate recent, past, and future trends and contemporary issues that are affecting the criminal justice system. The value of criminal justice system in the changing society is also another issue I will discuss. Today’s society puts a lot of reliance on policing in the community. This is because people want to be safe and the police ensure that this happens. However, in the past people used to feel safer than today. Past trends include how police ensured safety of the society. Police ensured safety by walking around the streets, and getting in touch with people. This ensured that the police officers and the people had a relationship that could be described as good since they could easily know one another’s names. This however did not last long as technology advanced police officers did not feel the urge to have a close relationship wit h people they patrolled (Muraskin & Albert, 117).Present trends: There is much advancement in criminal justice system in the present day. This has been greatly affected by the advancement in technology. These advancements has ensured that the police can patrol the streets easily. However, this ended up destroying the relationship that police officers had with the people. Future Trends: the future will see more advancement in technology and therefore it will be easier for the justice system to carry out their duties. This will see more people appreciating the work of police officers in the society. Conclusion: The justice system value has in the past been questioned since more and more people feel that the police officers are no longer in touch with people. However, this may change in future and more people might change their attitude towards this essential system. The value of justice system remains essential and all that is required are people’s sentiments towards the same. ReferenceMuraskin, R, & Albert, R. (2009). Pharmacotherapeutics for prescribing Assignment

Pharmacotherapeutics for prescribing - Assignment Example Vomiting is the forcible involuntary or voluntary stomach contents emptying ("throwing up") through the mouth (Schnell F, 2003) .However vomiting, nausea and constipation might be as a result of gastric cancer related complications that the patient had. To really understand how this condition of the patient can be managed or treated, the Pharmacotherapeutics of these two suggested drugs has been discussed in detail. Metoclopramide 10mg is used in the treatment of vomiting, Digestive disorders, Nausea and Migraine. Metoclopramide increases the muscles contractions or movements in the intestines and stomach (Schnell F. 2003). These results to a decrease in the duration the stomach contents take to move through the digestive tract. On the other hand, Co-danthramer suspension and capsules have 2 active ingredients, Poloxamer 188 and Dantron. Both of these drugs are referred to as laxatives. Hence in combination it is called co-danthramer. Dantron is laxative type referred to as stimulant laxative. It acts by nerve endings stimulation in the intestines walls. This results to intestinal wall muscles to contract frequently with increased force. The gut’s contents are moved along the intestines as a result of these muscles contraction, hence relieving constipation. Poloxamer 188 is referred to as faecal softener. It aids in drawing water into the faecal material, hence the water content and stools volume is increased. This makes it easier and softer to pass. Therefore these drugs best suit the treatment of this patient condition and its Pharmacotherapeutics have been explored in the next section. Pharmacotherapeutics of Metoclopramide and Co-danthramer Pharmacokinetics of Metoclopramide Metoclopramide is well and rapidly absorbed. Relative to 10 mg intravenous dose, the absolute oral Metoclopramide bioavailability is 80% Â ± 15.5% (Baxter Healthcare Corporation, 2010) .This was indicated in a crossover study which had 18 subjects. Concentrations of Peak plasma are experienced at approximately 1 - 2 hours following a single oral dose. It is also observed that same time to peak can be experienced at steady state following individual doses (Baxter Healthcare Corporation, 2010). According to a single dose study carried out on 12 subjects, it was observed that the area under the drug concentration-time curve linearly increased with doses to 100 mg from 20(Jordan et al, 2004). This means that the Concentrations of Peak linearly increase with dose, but time concentrations of peak don’t change; whole body clearance doesn’t change; and the rate of elimination doesn’t change (remains the same) (Jordan et al, 2004). In normal renal function individuals, the half-life of average elimination is 5 - 6 hours. Processes of Linear kinetic describe the Metoclopramide elimination and absorption (Baxter Healthcare Corporation, 2010).
